SEVERAL container stacks have collapsed on the wharf at Port Botany in wild weather.

It appears there are about 23 containers affected.

The containers, at the Patrick terminal on the north side of Brotherson Dock, fell in high winds, a spokesperson for the stevedore said.

The spokesperson said recovery operations are in process, and the extent of any damage is unknown.

At Port Botany, wind gusts of up to 52 kilometres per hour were recorded.
