THE ROYAL Australian Navy is seeking a long-term contractor to maintain its seven Anzac-class frigates.
The Anzac Class Design Support Contract is under open tender and is focused on the long-term sustainment of the warships at the Henderson maritime precinct in Western Australia.
Naval architecture firm BMT has formed an exclusive partnership with BAE Systems Australia to bid for the contract to ensure the frigates remain operationally effective throughout their service life.
A BMT media release said the partnership, known as DSC–West, aims to deliver maritime solutions tailored to the government's evolving requirements.
The partnership also includes Australian Maritime Technologies (AMT), which was acquired by BMT in November 2024 as part of its broader global organisation.
AMT has extensive experience providing support to the Royal Australian Navy and Royal New Zealand Navy Anzac-class frigates, from design inception to in-service support. The Melbourne-based consultancy specialises in engineering, design, and consulting services for marine projects
“AMT retains a close working relationship with the original ship designer, ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems of Germany,” the release said.
Regional business director at BMT, Graeme Nayler said the partnership represents a significant step forward in delivering outstanding sustainment outcomes for the Anzac-class frigates..
"With AMT’s extensive experience now part of the BMT organisation, we offer a truly integrated and capable team ready to support the Commonwealth in achieving enduring operational performance."
