SPECIALIST marine construction company, SMC Marine has completed the $85 million Mandorah ferry terminal at Darwin.

The new ferry terminal, for residents and visitors to Mandorah, Wagait Beach and Belyuen, has upgraded car and trailer parks, accessible parking bays and an extended bus bay.

It has access for people with disability, wheelchairs and prams.

A floating pontoon with shade has seating for up to 150 people and it features an innovative on-site water storage and sewerage treatment system to irrigate landscaping.

Two major breakwaters, built using 80,000 tonnes of rock, provide protection from sea swells and wave action.

SMC began work on the project in May 2024, completing the project ahead of schedule in July 2025.

Commissioning for ferry operations is underway, with the facilities set to open to the public on 16 August.
