NSW Ports chief executive Marika Calfas has been appointed a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) in the King’s Birthday 2026 Honours List General Division.

Ms Calfas was recognised for her significant service to the shipping and transport industries, as well as logistics and infrastructure.

“I’m proud to be involved in supporting Australia’s maritime trade needs, a critical part of our everyday lives and Australia’s economy, together with the thousands of incredible people in the sector who work around the clock to keep our supply chains moving," Ms Calfas told DCN

“To receive this acknowledgement of my contribution to the industry is an honour, and also an opportunity to share more widely the importance of our ports and freight sector and the wonderful and diverse careers that can be achieved in this industry, including for women."

Ms Calfas also said she hoped the recognition encouraged people to explore potential careers in the ports and freight sectors.

“I will continue to advocate strongly for the maritime industry and work collaboratively with the many committed stakeholders for a productive and resilient industry for the future,” she said.

For more than a decade, Ms Calfas has led the NSW Ports team across sites at Port Botany, Port Kembla, as well as the Enfield and Cooks River Intermodal Terminals.

She has remained a strong advocate for delivering essential trade infrastructure and driving efficiencies across port supply chains for the economy, businesses and communities across Australia.

Ms Calfas has more than 20 years’ experience in the ports sector, which has included port planning and development.

She continues to represent the sector advising government on industry reform agendas.
