WESTERN Australia’s shipping and logistics community gathered on Saturday night (18 July), for the seventh annual WA International Trade Ball.
Held at The Westin Perth, organisers said the sold-out event brought together some 330 freight forwarders, customs brokers, transport operators and industry professionals.
The celebration also raised more than $27,000 for local charity Feed it Forward, who support the homeless, the elderly, daycares, families in need, school breakfast clubs, soup kitchens, church groups, men’s and women’s refuges, many community groups and Indigenous groups.
Spearheaded by industry leaders, Sherie Le Brun, Emma Cribbin and John Park, the event has become a cornerstone of the WA International Trade calendar.
Co-organiser Sherie Le Brun said the event was more than just a night of glamour, helping unite the sector for a common cause, raising thousands of dollars each year for a nominated local charity.
“Our community is awesome, even more incredible is when we work hard to make it a great night and have so many people champion the event year after year,” Ms Le Brun said.
John Park said industry was proud to be able to support local charities.
Tickets were sold out well in advance, with the ball continuing its tradition of attracting a full house each year.
Ms Le Brun said the event had reinforced its reputation as the 'go-to event' for networking, celebration, and giving back.
The major lucky door prize this year was donated by FumeWest and this year’s chosen charity received support through auction prizes provided by Stockwells and Globelink, direct donations throughout the evening and from the committee.
Ms Le Brun said guests enjoyed live entertainment, fine dining, and heartfelt moments - all in the spirit of supporting West Australian communities.
