AUSTRALIA loses almost 25% of its total fruit and vegetable production in cold chain storage – that’s 1.93 million tonnes lost before it reaches the consumer.

Software company Geotab says around 7.6 million tonnes of the food lost in Australia each year is due to ineffective refrigeration.

The fleet management software company claims it has new software that will provide businesses with greater visibility, control, and compliance assurance for temperature-sensitive shipments.

It believes it can significantly reduce this waste with software enhancements that will support local industries, such as food producers and logistics operators in maintaining product integrity and reducing waste across the supply chain.

Geotab says tighter regulations and increased customer expectations for more comprehensive monitoring make its enhanced cold chain solution a good one for a market being driven by tighter regulations and rising customer expectations.

Geotab’s relaunch includes a range of hardware and software to help streamline operations with near real-time monitoring, multi-zone temperature support, custom temperature alerts and remote command capabilities.

The system also provides access to historical data through interactive graphs, grids, and maps to identify trends and optimise logistics.

Geotab aims to help fleets boost their efficiency and management through advanced data analytics and AI.

It has more than 55,000 customers worldwide and processes 80 billion data points daily from more than 4.7 million vehicle subscriptions.
