AN ANNOUNCEMENT about a new managing director/chief executive for stevedore DP World Australia is near, sources close to the company say. While there have been no official announcements, former MD/CEO Paul Scurrah is known to have finished up late last year following five years at the helm. Sources told Daily Cargo News an announcement on his replacement as MD was due “in the next week or so”.

There had been speculation in recent months as to Paul Scurrah’s future, however no formal announcements were made. As head of DPWA, Mr Scurrah achieved some significant wins such as securing the A3 consortium contract in 2016. He was also a White Ribbon Ambassador and powerful advocate for women’s rights and confronting domestic violence. The company’s move to implement infrastructure fees in 2017 and then again in 2018 proved more controversial, however, with suggestions it should be investigated by competition authorities.
