RAIL freight operator Aurizon has announced the appointment of Andrew Adam as a new non-executive director effective 1 July.
Mr Adam has more than three decades of experience in transport and logistics across ports, rail and intermodal freight, including large-scale operating and transformation roles in Australia and internationally.
He has been the independent chairman of Aries Rail which provides design, engineering and service delivery to the rail industry and a non-executive director of New South Wales Ports which manages Port Botany and Port Kembla.
He also has been non-executive director for Intermodal Terminal Company, a role he is to step down from on 30 September.
His previous executive roles include DP World Australia where he was chief executive (2020-2023) and chief operating officer (2019-2020), and Pacific National where he was president of freight (2013-2019).
Aurizon chair Tim Longstaff said it was “a pleasure to welcome Andrew to the board”.
“He has extensive operational experience in bulk and containerised freight in both the rail and shipping industries and will be a valuable addition to our team,” Mr Longstaff said.
“Andrew joins Aurizon at an exciting time as we continue to leverage our extensive operational experience and footprint to grow our business, particularly in the transport of bulk commodities such as new economy minerals as well as containerised freight to support our national retail economy.”
DCN spoke briefly with Mr Adam this week who indicated he was positive about the move.
