A GLOBAL environment where biosecurity requirements are becoming increasingly complex has contributed to Fintran Australia’s decision to join industry body Shipping Australia.

Fintran Australia is an Australian-owned, end-to-end biosecurity specialist helping organisations manage biosecurity risk across international supply chains.

With more than 25 years of global technical and operational experience, Fintran works with shipping lines, importers, exporters, port operators and logistics operators to help them navigate Australia’s biosecurity requirements, manage risk and minimise disruption to cargo movements.

Chief executive Matthew Slavin said "Shipping Australia plays an important role in representing and connecting the organisations that keep Australia’s maritime trade moving".

"As a business working closely with shipping lines, ports, importers, exporters and logistics operators, joining Shipping Australia gives Fintran an opportunity to contribute our specialist biosecurity knowledge to the broader industry conversation," Mr Slavin said.

"Biosecurity requirements are becoming increasingly important and complex across international supply chains.

"We see real value in working more closely with Shipping Australia and its members, sharing knowledge and helping the industry anticipate and navigate biosecurity risks before they result in delays or disruption.

"Ultimately, our role is to help protect Australia while enabling trade to keep moving."

Shipping Australia chief executive Melwyn Noronha said Fintran Australia was "a leading provider of biosecurity solutions bringing valuable expertise and experience to Shipping Australia’s membership".

"We are very fortunate to have a highly qualified and experienced provider who can assist our members with their biosecurity needs. Their specialist knowledge can help strengthen our industry when consulting with members to provide policy input to government," Captain Noronha said.

"This will, in turn, benefit our members, the local industry, and Australia. We look forward to working alongside Fintran Australia."
