Chinese aluminium smelters move away from captive coal power

ALUMINIUM smelting is known to be one of the most emissions-intensive industries in China, with more than 80% of aluminium capacity in China uses coal-fired power. Wood Mackenzie estimates that Chinese aluminium smelters produced an average of 12.36 tonnes of CO2-e per tonne of aluminium produced from coal-fired power generation last year.
