Collision between bulker Accolade II and fishing vessel investigated

A COLLISION between bulk carrier Accolade II and fishing vessel Sand Groper off Port Adelaide last Saturday is under scrutiny from the Australian Transport Safety Bureau.

The collision reportedly occurred near beacon 13 of Port Adelaide channel at about 04.35am.

Accolade II sustained minor damage while Sand Groper sustained damage to the starboard bow and stabiliser.

Zero injuries nor pollution was reported.

The ATSB is to conduct interviews and collect other evidence including recorded data.

“Should any safety critical information be discovered at any time during the investigation, the ATSB will immediately notify operators and regulators so appropriate and timely safety action can be taken,” the Bureau said in a statement.

A final report is to be published at the end of the investigation.
