DESPITE forty years of chaplaincy work, Dennis Claughton from the Fremantle Flying Angel has no plans to hang up his boots.
Dennis Claughton was made a Member of the Order of Australia earlier in the year, in recognition of his “significant service to the Anglican Church of Australia and to the welfare of Seafarers”.
“Dennis has made a huge contribution at Fremantle Flying Angel Club where he has been Honorary Chaplain for the past twenty years,” the FFAC said in a statement.

Dennis Claughton has been honoured before (albeit in very different circumstances), having been named the joint "personality of the year" in 2013 from among the World’s Seafarers Centres.
Wife Shirley Claughton said her husband had worked as a chaplain at the mines, then with the hearing-impaired and at a hospice before working with the Flying Angle.
“So he has had many years of chaplaincy,” Mrs Claughton said.
“It is a very significant award, not only for him but everyone who contributes at the Mission.”
