ENHANCING the efficiency and resilience of the forage product export supply chain is one of the aims of stevedore DP World and Balco Australia who this week announced the signing of a new multi-year agreement.

The pair already have what was described as “a long-standing partnership”.

DP World is to continue as an important logistics partner to Balco, providing integrated road transport, equipment management and supply chain coordination services.

These solutions are to support the efficient movement of forage products from Balco’s regional production sites to export gateways and international markets.

Balco Australia is one of Australia's key exporters of premium forage products and a global provider of ruminant fibre solutions.

Under the new agreement, DP World is to support the movement of more than 10,000 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEU) annually via dedicated road transport, equipment management and integrated logistics services.

The partnership will also include investment in specialised transport assets.

The agreement is to further strengthen Balco’s global supply chain capability while reinforcing DP World's long-term commitment to supporting Australia's agricultural exports and connecting regional producers with international markets.

DP World executive vice president for Oceania, Nicolaj Noes, said Balco played “an important role in bringing Australian agricultural products to customers around the world, and we're proud to strengthen our partnership as its trusted logistics provider”.

“By combining our integrated ports, transport and logistics capabilities, we're helping Balco move exports more efficiently from regional Australia to global markets.

“This agreement reflects our shared commitment to building resilient supply chains that support customer growth and strengthen Australia's export economy," Mr Noes said.

Balco Australia general manager, logistic & fulfillment, Linda Xu, “a stable, efficient and resilient supply chain is fundamental to Balco’s ability to serve global customers and continue expanding across international markets”.

“DP World is an important partner in delivering Balco’s global supply chain strategy. Its integrated national logistics network, specialised transport capability and long-term investment approach are strongly aligned with Balco’s direction of continuing to strengthen its global supply chain capability,” Ms Xu said.

“This partnership will further improve our supply chain resilience and operational efficiency, support Balco’s continued international growth, and enable us to provide customers worldwide with more reliable and efficient fibre products and solutions.”
