A LICENSED customs broker and prominent supply chain professional is the new appointee to the role of head of border, biosecurity and logistics with the Freight & Trade Alliance (FTA) and the Australian Peak Shippers Association (APSA).
Lucy Robinson takes on the role starting today [20 April].
Ms Robinson is said to bring extensive industry expertise, operational insight and leadership capability at a time of increasing industry complexity.
Based in Melbourne, she is to work closely with FTA and APSA members nationwide, playing a central role in advancing the entity’s advocacy agenda, strengthening industry engagement, and supporting operational outcomes.
FTA director and APSA secretariat Paul Zalai said the appointment reflected the organisations’ commitment to practical, member-driven advocacy.
“Lucy brings a rare combination of technical expertise and real-world operational experience across the supply chain,” Mr Zalai said.
“At a time when border complexity and regulatory change continue to intensify, her appointment significantly strengthens our ability to support members and engage effectively with government on practical, informed policy outcomes.”
Mr Zalai said the role would also enhance the organisations’ growing national advocacy footprint.
“This is not just a strategic appointment—it directly supports our members on the ground,” he said.
“Lucy will play a key role in ensuring that the issues impacting exporters, importers and logistics providers are clearly understood and effectively represented across government and industry.”
Ms Robinson said she was looking forward to contributing to the sector at a crucial time for global trade.
“I’m excited to join FTA and APSA and work closely with members across Australia,” Ms Robinson said.
“There is a real opportunity to strengthen collaboration across industry and government, particularly in areas such as border efficiency, biosecurity compliance and supply chain resilience.”
