WOMEN working in logistics often lack a dedicated space to connect and share experiences, so a group of West Australian women have taken to organising a ‘no agenda’ ladies’ lunch.
Transitainer director, Kelly Crossley said the lunch idea came about when she was at an industry lunch and a few of the ladies got talking.
“The short version is, we figured it would be nice to get women together to have a long lunch, similar to the men having a golf day. It would be nice to get together to connect and celebrate each other with no agenda,” Ms Crossley said.
The inaugural lunch was held last year at the Windsor Hotel in South Perth where 45 ladies took part.
This year’s Women in Logistics Luncheon is being held at the Windsor Hotel on Friday, 7 November from noon. Cost is $80 per ticket.
“In the world of logistics, every day is fast-paced, complex, and full of moving parts. But while the industry thrives on efficiency and global connections, one thing it has often lacked is a dedicated space for women to connect, share experiences, and celebrate each other’s achievements,” Ms Crossley said.
“Our goal is to create meaningful connections between women working in freight forwarding, customs, shipping, transport, and the broader supply chain, and encourage open conversations about career journeys, leadership, and challenges in our field.
“We also want to build a supportive network where women can find not just colleagues, but mentors and friends, celebrate success and highlight the contributions women are making in keeping global trade moving every single day.
“Most of all, it’s just to connect, relax and have a fun day and leave the work in the office for a few hours.”
Ms Crossley said the lunch was a relaxed environment with no big speeches or formalities.

“It’s also a chance to see how much strength and wisdom exist within our industry. We had women come from so many different industries within the supply chain, it was amazing. Women who had not been to an industry event ever or had not attended one in a very long time. It was a delight to see so many new faces.”

Meanwhile, on the other side of the country in Sydney last Friday morning, the IFCBAA Women in Logistics Breakfast was held in beautiful Sans Souci at the Bass & Flinders Pavilion.
The event was attended by 120 ladies (and one gentleman!) and proved to be what breakfast-goers said was a fantastic morning of networking for the industry.
The two speakers on the morning who spoke on women's health and the importance of personal and professional profiling were said to be "amazing".
