PORTS Australia chief executive Mike Gallacher has been presented with an honorary doctorate in business by the University of Plymouth in the United Kingdom.
A social media post from PA said “under his stewardship for almost a decade, Ports Australia has reinforced its influence as a strategic voice for the maritime sector, shaping policy discussions, supporting infrastructure investment, and responding to the evolving challenges of global trade”.
“Mike's leadership has been particularly notable in advancing innovation, enhancing supply chain resilience, and fostering collaboration between industry, government, and international partners,” it stated.
“He was an early engager with the international effort to improve cyber security and has worked closely with the University of Plymouth to accomplish this.”
University of Plymouth is in the county of Devon, a community with strong maritime links.
Mike Gallacher has spent four decades serving across law enforcement, government and now, the maritime industry.
“Beyond his executive achievements, Michael has contributed widely to the broader maritime community, sharing his expertise across international forums and helping to shape the future direction of ports in a rapidly changing global landscape,” PA stated.
“We, the team at Ports Australia, are delighted to celebrate this well-deserved honour, and to see Mike's hard work and dedication recognised.”
