Safe Ships, Safe Ports Forum held in Perth

THE 2025 Safe Ships Safe Ports Forum was held this week at Optus Stadium in Perth.

Speakers and guests travelled from across Australia as well as from China, Japan, the United Kingdom and the United States.

Among the many speakers were WA ports minister Stephen Dawson, AMSA chief executive Kaylene Dale, Pilbara Ports chair Karlie Mucjanko and Pilbara Ports CEO Sam McSkimming.

Among the themes for discussion were cleaner energy, safety and cybersecurity.

A panel session on safety was chaired by Ports Australia chief executive Mike Gallacher.

A keynote presentation was delivered by secretary general of The Mission to Seafarers Peter Rouch.

The event concluded on the Wednesday with a number of presentations including from Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore assistant chief executive Hoe Soon Tan and Svitzer global head of innovation Thomas Bangslund.
