SUSTAINABILITY is a key focus of a new logistics centre at Truganina in Melbourne’s west, opened by Hellmann Worldwide Logistics.

The new site, opened on 1 July, allows Hellmann to double its warehouse capacity in the Melbourne metropolitan area and further expand in the Asia-Pacific.

Covering around 19,000 m² with 18,000 pallet spaces and modern warehouse and inventory management systems, the site is said to provide excellent conditions for efficient logistics.

According to a company statement, the site is well suited to sustainable practices, including a 5-star Green Star As-Built certification.

There is also a 200 kW solar system, 30,000-liter rainwater tanks and ten charging stations for electric vehicles – measures that are said to support the company's ecological commitment.

"With the new site in the Melbourne metropolitan area, we are strengthening our presence in Australia and creating the foundation for even more flexible and efficient logistics solutions," said Mark Fitzpatrick, Hellmann’s regional chief operations officer contract logistics APAC.

Hellmann has been operating in Australia since 1987 and in New Zealand since 1988.

“With this strong presence in the fast-growing Asia-Pacific region, Hellmann is underlining its role as an international logistics partner for customised, digital and sustainable supply chain solutions,” the company said in a statement.

“In addition, the new multi-user site provides flexible and scalable logistics solutions for customers from various industries, including automotive, healthcare and pharma, food and beverages, and other consumer goods.

Hellmann Worldwide Logistics global chief operating officer contract logistics, Volker Sauerborn, said the opening of their new contract logistics centre was “another milestone on our way to offering innovative and sustainable logistics solutions worldwide”.

"We are strategically advancing our infrastructure to meet the increasing demands of our customers – efficiently and environmentally consciously,” Mr Sauerborn said.
