THE AUSTRALIAN Border Force has confirmed cancellations of depot licences held by Top Logistics Australia Pty Ltd remain in effect.

It was reported in August that a multi-agency strike team including detectives from NSW and federal law enforcement agencies had dismantled two alleged multi-million-dollar criminal networks and charged seven people.

The charges relate to the trade in illicit tobacco.

The ABC reported one of the seven people was 53-year-old Peter Ping Xie, who is also the director of Top Logistics Australia (TLA).

“On 3 September 2026, ABF cancelled depot licences held by Top Logistics Australia Pty Ltd. These cancellations remain in effect,” the ABF said in a statement.

“The ABF remains committed to facilitating legitimate trade and travel and will take decisive action to protect Australia’s communities and maintain integrity within the global supply chain.”

The cancellations related to depots at Bankstown in Sydney’s west and Cooper’s Plains in Brisbane’s south.

Consumers with questions about the status of their orders are expected to contact the company they purchased from or the freight provider handling the goods.

The ABF is understood to be working with affected parties to facilitate lawful supply chain arrangements and minimise disruption, while ensuring all customs and regulatory requirements continue to be met.

Maritime lawyer Alison Cusack said if any company was impacted, it was important to collate all relevant documentation (such as bills of lading, house bills of lading, purchase orders, sales contracts, insurance documentation) so that the company could understand the liability.

“For some importers, detention and demurrage may very well be accruing on these cargoes,” Ms Cusack said.

“It’s also a timely reminder to all importers to review their documentation as we come into the Christmas shutdown season to resolve outstanding claims and prepare their supply chain processes for reduced services and access to depots etc.”
